Material Virtual Machine
A Material Design 3 presentation layer for the existing VirtualBox Manager, runtime, settings, wizards, and tools.
No virtual machine can start. The host hypervisor driver VBoxSup.sys is unsigned, 64-bit Windows will not load an unsigned kernel driver, and code signing is permanently prohibited for this project. It is a policy consequence, not a defect, and no installer change can resolve it.

Native surfaces
Manager, runtime, settings, tools, and wizards stay on their existing Qt models, action pools, COM/XPCOM contracts, and lifecycle. The native implementation handoff records precedence, target ownership, evidence boundaries, and the remaining order.
No fake evidence
Runtime screenshots and installer links appear only after a built artifact is captured and independently verified.

Settings shell
Global Preferences and per-machine Settings now show one real page at a time in a bounded Material selector and card. Search deliberately switches to cross-page results, while a collapsed global-only disclosure keeps language and appearance controls out of Machine Settings. Full regex builder
Every Material search field owns a plain-text-first, adjacent builder with guided literals, classes, anchors, groups, alternation and numeric quantifiers; raw PCRE2-compatible syntax and flags; bounded asynchronous match/capture preview; copy and atomic JSON export; accessible announcements; and viewport-bounded scrolling. Appearance settings
Global Preferences exposes persisted scheme, seed, density, font-scale, installed font-family, global/inherited font-weight, and display-brand controls through a collapsed, single-column customization panel backed by the shared theme service. HCT tonal palettes
Material color roles are generated through a native HCT/CAM16 core-palette implementation rather than an HSL stand-in. The compiled testcase exercises 127 reference, gamut, contrast, and stability checks. Read TonalPalette.md.
Stock-control style
The shared Qt proxy style applies Material semantic colors, typography, shape, state layers, focus treatment, disabled presentation, and bounded control anatomy to existing buttons, fields, choices, tabs, menus, lists, headers, sliders, scroll bars, progress, toolbars, status bars, and group-box frames without replacing their behavior. Command palette
The manager binds Ctrl+Shift+F to live, searchable commands with focus return and stale-handler cleanup. Read CommandPalette.md; native capture remains deferred in the current task.
Manager shell
The responsive production composition uses a 48-pixel title bar, 48-pixel on-demand workspace strip, 92-pixel desktop rail, compact searchable navigation below 1000 logical pixels, contextual destination actions, and bounded Machines cards without replacing existing VirtualBox models. Manager tools
Extensions, Media, Network, Cloud, and VM Activity Overview share one persistent Material plain-text/regex search and appearance card over their real item views. Original hidden rows are restored, live model refresh is bounded, and the embedded Media toolbar no longer repeats the search action. Manager navigation
The 92-pixel Material rail uses stacked destinations in the prototype order, opens workspaces on demand, includes Preferences in focus traversal, explains unavailable destinations, recolors icons for the active Material role and display scale, and keeps the real tool model and restrictions authoritative. Stable md3.tool.* keys refresh English, Cantonese, bilingual, and independent funny-level presentation. Read NavigationRail.md.
Tabbed manager
The 48-pixel native strip opens destinations on demand, preserves customized state, reveals overflow and collapsed-group results, exposes real accessible page-tab/action controls, and persists a bounded reconciled model per surface. Ctrl+Shift+T opens independent current-strip, group-name, per-group, and all-window searches; two additional fields provide pinned-safe containing/inverse close previews that are re-resolved before execution. Notification center
The existing center filters real names, details, internal names, and help keywords, while non-blocking records are retained in a bounded searchable local history model. The manager header's Notifications button opens that review surface and shows an unread marker; rows support filtered selection, selected-read updates, bounded JSON export, an app-owned Clear history gate with two acknowledgements and a full-range slider, and one-step Undo last clear recovery. Persistent model, language, and theme connections are idempotent, and each mutation now reaches the modeless list through one sigChanged() refresh path. The shared local history journal records clear/restore/change revisions with an atomic fallback; Ctrl+H or the command palette opens searchable action/date-filtered revisions with plain-text-first search, the anchored regex builder, JSONL export, integrity verification, and validated Restore selected state routing for notification and appearance/theme revisions. Wizard shell
Existing New VM/New VD/clone/import/export pages now sit inside a responsive Material 3 step rail and bounded page card. Below 720 logical pixels the rail collapses while the real page title, progress, scrollable page stack, and 48-pixel native action row remain available. Hidden Basic/Expert pages stay out of the visible step catalog without changing validation or progress ownership. Read WizardShell.md; native capture remains deferred.
Wizard accessibility names the real page stack and Back/Next/Finish/Cancel/Help actions, and announces current, completed, and upcoming step states. Cross-wizard tabs, full validation-summary details, runtime accessibility-tree captures, and native capture remain open.
Legacy notification rows expose accessible names, visible keyboard focus, and Enter/Return/Space details disclosure; complete row selection and restore semantics remain open. Read NotificationCentre.md for the bounded search and history contract.

The command palette groups live manager commands by category, exposes the seven real global-tool destinations, preserves stable command IDs, explains disabled action-pool and tool state through focusable unavailable rows, refreshes English/Cantonese/bilingual copy through UIMd3Language, and supports bounded Up/Down keyboard navigation on narrow screens. The current evidence is a commit-attributed local Windows x64 build from exact settings-shell source commit 152327ec9fe04455de55def8bd8e943138b75737. It used MSVC 14.44, Windows SDK 10.0.26100.0, Qt 6.8.3 with the official qtscxml add-on, and the bundled kBuild executable.

These results prove compilation and linking for that exact source commit, not a runtime launch or release. CI-only correction f8c3bfffb55b8c8f0f0f884645afc1f0e99ade25 completed validation run 31330546183 and Pages run 31330546180 successfully; the deployed Home page and SettingsShell.md returned HTTP 200 with the new content. Native settings interaction and visual capture, dockable/reorderable settings tabs, runtime adoption, and complete accessibility flows remain pending.
