Installer published — the redesign is in progress

Design artifacts, generated on your own machine.

A local daemon detects the coding-agent command-line tool you already have installed and drives it. Projects, files and database stay on local disk.

There is an installer, and the packaging run published it

Continuous integration builds the Windows Squirrel installer and publishes the exact output only when packaging and release publication complete. Actions does not run tests or lint, so a published release proves packaging and publication only.

What that does not prove is that any particular feature works. The smoke test starts the application and stops it; it never touches the interface. The Standards section says, one requirement at a time, what is built and what is not.

What Material Designer is

A workspace that runs entirely on your own machine. A local daemon detects whichever coding-agent command-line tool you already have installed and drives it to generate single-page design artifacts — prototypes, live dashboards, decks, images and motion pieces — rendered in a sandboxed preview and exportable to HTML, PDF, PPTX, ZIP, Markdown and MP4. Projects, files and database stay on local disk.

Two different things are described on this site, and they are never mixed. The product's existing behaviour is the imported upstream release, which works today. The Material Design 3 redesign and the standards conformance are this project's own work, and that work is in progress.

What this repository adds

A Material Design 3 redesign

The product's own interface, rebuilt on the M3 colour-role tokens, type scale, shape scale, elevation and motion easing. The token layer and the custom window chrome are in the released build; the components have not been rebuilt on them yet.

In progress

A minimal rebrand

Product name, window title, installer and application identity. Internal package names, the command-line name, its environment variables and its storage keys are left exactly as upstream wrote them, so the port stays diffable against its source.

In progress

A port you can check rather than believe

A committed shell script re-derives the whole "this is upstream, unmodified" claim from git alone, and the licence notice is the same list the script enforces.

Runnable today

The standards this project holds itself to

Language modes and funny levels, appearance customization, a regex builder beside every search field, tabbed navigation, non-blocking notifications, a command palette, accessibility as a completion blocker. This page implements them; the application does not yet.

What is verified, and what has never been run

Every row says how it was checked. A row that says "never run" means exactly that.

Verification state of each claim this repository makes
Claim State How it was checked
The imported tree matches upstream exactly Verified By running the committed verifier locally, on a checkout with LF line endings. It reports zero gaps and exits 0.
Every difference from upstream is declared Verified Same run. The licence notice is the allowlist the script reads, so an undeclared change fails and a declaration for an unchanged file fails too.
The application builds, installs and starts Verified A release run installed the Windows package it had just built, launched it, saw the running process answer its own health endpoint, and uninstalled it without residue.
Continuous integration passes Verified The release run and site deployment have completed. Actions performs packaging and publication only, so a published release is evidence of those steps, not a test verdict.
A release exists Published With an unsigned Squirrel installer, its checksum, RELEASES feed, NuGet packages and a dim sum code name. A SmartScreen warning may appear on first run.
The application follows Material Design 3 Partly The token sheet transcribed from the mockup is in the released build, and Windows now draws the application's own title bar instead of the operating system's. The component inventory has not been rebuilt on those tokens, and no screenshot of the running application appears on this site.
This site meets the project's own standards Partly The standards this page can carry are implemented here and can be exercised in the browser. The Standards section says which, and which are still missing.
